Overview
The Songmu Island chemical industry development zone required integrated design of all shared utilities and environmental systems serving its many chemical plants — process cooling, heating, raw-material transfer, and wastewater/exhaust treatment — coordinated across a long, heavily piped site.
Scope
- Park-wide utilities, heating, raw-material transfer, and waste (water/gas) treatment
- Long-distance outdoor piping to every process unit with remote metering and parameter monitoring
Key technical highlights
- HVAC / refrigeration: the process chilling system uses a screw glycol chiller paired with an evaporative condenser. Compared with a conventional bare-tube condenser + open tower + cooling-circulation-pump arrangement, it eliminates the cooling-water system and circulation pump; the closed-circuit tower has a small pump head, materially cutting operating cost. It runs on 10 kV high-voltage supply, lowering total investment and line losses.
- Raw-material tank farm: many material types, each tank with remote monitoring, and the tank farm equipped with combustible-gas detection alarms; transfer has remote + local control and metering, making pipe routing highly complex.
- Stormwater interface: the provided municipal stormwater connection point was too high to discharge by gravity; after several rounds of coordination and site survey the intake was relocated externally.
- Wastewater / exhaust: the many plant products produce complex, fluctuating waste streams requiring stringent, high-difficulty treatment.
